Important Update: Declined Transaction Fees Due to Insufficient Funds

Created by Blessing Chuks, Modified on Mon, 14 Jul at 10:57 AM by Blessing Chuks

At Timon, we’ve always prioritised seamless and transparent services.
Previously, we covered the costs for all declined transactions due to insufficient funds.
However, starting February 1st, 2025, this policy will be adjusted to ensure sustainability and support responsible card use.

What’s Changing

Starting Feb 1st, 2025:

  • Timon will cover up to three declined transactions per calendar month.

  • After that, a $0.50 fee will be applied per declined transaction.

  • If your balance reaches $0 and your card continues to decline:

    • It will be scheduled for deletion in 2 days.

    • If no top-up is made within that time, the card will be deleted automatically.

Why This Matters

This update helps:

  • Prevent you from unknowingly accruing fees from failed or forgotten subscriptions

  • Remove inactive or empty cards, helping you manage your account better

  • Encourage more responsible usage of your Timon card

How to Avoid Declined Transaction Fees

Here are a few ways to stay in control:

1. Maintain Sufficient Funds

Keep your Timon card topped up, especially for subscriptions or recurring payments.

2. Review and Cancel Unused Subscriptions

Check your active subscriptions and cancel services you no longer use.

3. Top Up Regularly

  • Monitor your balance often

  • Add funds in advance

  • Watch for notifications, we usually alert you before declined transaction fees apply

Why the Change?

Previously, Timon absorbed all fees for declined transactions, but this approach is no longer sustainable.
By covering the first 3 declines monthly, we’re:

  • Supporting our users

  • Managing growing operational costs

  • Promoting responsible card use
