If you tried to pay by tapping your card and saw the message “Denied – Contactless Limit Exceeded,” don’t worry your card is working fine.
Why it happens
For security reasons, card providers set a maximum amount you can spend using tap-to-pay without entering your PIN. If your purchase is higher than that limit, the transaction will be declined to keep your money safe.
What to do
Simply insert your card (or swipe, if available)
Enter your PIN to confirm the payment
Your transaction should then go through successfully
Good to know
This isn’t a card issue, it’s a built-in security feature.
Limits can vary depending on the card type and the country where you’re using it.
If you prefer, you can choose to insert your card for all purchases, regardless of the amount.
